IP Camera Installation | NAS Recording | No Cloud Fees

Professional IP Camera Installations

Complete surveillance solutions combining professional IP camera installation with local NAS recording. No monthly cloud fees - your footage stays on your premises, under your control.

IP Camera Installation

Every installation starts with an on-site survey to understand your coverage requirements, lighting conditions, and mounting constraints. We plan camera placement to eliminate blind spots while minimizing camera count — no padding the quote with unnecessary cameras. Installation includes professional mounting with weatherproof housings for exterior cameras, structured CAT6 cable runs to a central PoE switch, and proper cable management throughout. Each camera is individually configured for optimal resolution, frame rate, and compression settings based on its specific field of view and purpose. We commission every camera with the client present, walking through live feeds to confirm coverage meets expectations before the job is complete.

Local NAS Recording

Unlike cloud-based solutions with recurring monthly fees, we configure local NAS storage for surveillance footage:

  • No Monthly Fees - One-time investment, no ongoing cloud subscription costs
  • Your Data, Your Control - Footage stays on your premises
  • Massive Storage - Multi-terabyte NAS systems for extended retention
  • High Performance - Optimized for multi-camera concurrent recording
  • Reliable - RAID protection ensures footage isn't lost to drive failure

Camera Brands & Platforms

We work with all major IP camera manufacturers including Hikvision, Dahua, Axis, Reolink, and Uniview. Camera selection is driven entirely by your requirements and budget — we don't carry inventory or earn commissions from any manufacturer. For most commercial installations, we recommend Hikvision or Dahua for their strong price-to-performance ratio. When environments demand higher-end optics or advanced analytics like license plate recognition, Axis cameras offer superior image processing. For budget-conscious projects where basic coverage is the priority, Reolink provides reliable performance at a lower price point.

Recording & Retention

Recording configuration balances coverage needs with storage capacity. We typically configure continuous recording for high-priority areas (entrances, cash registers, restricted zones) and motion-triggered recording for lower-priority areas to conserve storage. Resolution and frame rate are tuned per camera — 4K at 15fps for wide-area overview cameras, 1080p at 25fps for detail cameras where motion clarity matters. Retention periods are calculated based on your storage capacity and recording settings, typically ranging from 30 to 120 days. Remote viewing is configured through the NAS manufacturer's mobile app with secure VPN or HTTPS access. We also set up export procedures so footage can be saved to USB or network locations when needed for incident review.

Network Design for Surveillance

Surveillance systems generate significant network traffic — a single 4K camera streams 8-16 Mbps continuously. For multi-camera installations, we deploy dedicated PoE switches sized for the camera count plus growth capacity. Cameras are isolated on their own VLAN to prevent surveillance traffic from impacting business network performance and to restrict camera access to authorized management systems only. Bandwidth planning accounts for simultaneous recording and live viewing, with trunk links between the PoE switch and NAS sized appropriately. For installations spanning multiple buildings or floors, we plan switch placement to keep cable runs within structured cabling distance limits.

Installation Process

Our typical surveillance installation process:

  1. Site Survey - Walk the property to document coverage requirements, identify mounting locations, assess cable routing paths, and note power availability
  2. Design & Quote - Create a camera placement diagram with field-of-view overlays, specify equipment, and provide a detailed itemized quote
  3. Equipment Procurement - Source cameras, NAS, switches, and cabling from our supplier network. Equipment is tested in our lab before arriving on-site
  4. Installation - Mount cameras, run and terminate cables, install PoE switches and NAS hardware, establish network connectivity
  5. Configuration - Configure recording schedules, motion zones, retention policies, remote access, user accounts, and alert notifications
  6. Training & Documentation - Walk-through with your team covering live viewing, footage search and export, mobile app access, and basic troubleshooting

Typical Projects

Common surveillance deployment scenarios:

  • Commercial office buildings - Multi-camera coverage of entrances, parking, and common areas with high-capacity NAS recording
  • Retail locations - Indoor and outdoor cameras with point-of-sale positioning for transaction verification
  • Warehouse and industrial facilities - Wide-angle coverage of large floor areas and loading docks with zone-based recording
  • Parking and access control - License plate recognition cameras at entry and exit points with analytics integration
